The Task

A race team contacted us needing custom connectors for the critical components of their race car: the engine, gearbox, and clutch. Their primary goal was to ensure maximum performance through a seamless fit. We utilized our expertise to accurately measure the flange faces of these vital parts, guaranteeing the pinpoint precision required for flawless connection and enhanced performance on the track.

The Solution

To meet the client's demanding high-precision requirements, we deployed our hand-held 3D scanner, which utilizes 81 blue laser lines to achieve a resolution of 0.02mm. This allowed us to meticulously scan the flange faces of the engine, gearbox, and clutch. The raw data was quickly converted into 2D contours, precisely detailing the bolt holes, pin positions, and flange profiles. We then delivered these critical contours in the client's requested DXF format within just two business days.

The Result

The client expressed great satisfaction with the accuracy of the DXF files. The high-quality data is now ready to be leveraged for designing the custom connectors, ultimately ensuring high performance and reliability for the race car.
