The Solution

We began the restoration by reverse engineering the chain guard using our high-accuracy 3D laser scanner and advanced CAD software. Our goal went beyond mere replication; we sought to restore the component's original profile. We meticulously analyzed the scan data, disregarding deformation and incorrect shapes from decades of damage and repair, to create a precise 3D model. We then adjusted the model for a perfect fit with the bike's stainless-steel frame. The new guard was created using silicone molding with polypropylene to ensure optimal stiffness and performance. Finally, a medium gloss finish provided a smooth, uniform, and aesthetically pleasing appearance.

He couldn't wait to install the upgraded part, eager to see how it would enhance the overall look and performance of his beloved motorcycle. With the project complete, the anticipation was palpable as he prepared to hit the road again.
